Apple’s long-rumored smart home hub may be more colorful than expected, with a new leak suggesting the device could launch in four designs when it arrives (hopefully) later this month.
The home hub will reportedly be unveiled on October 13, and the A leaker known as “pdfu” claims Apple will offer it in Silver, Space Grey, Starlight and Rose Pink colors. It was the same four colors previously spotted MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris’s macOS 26.7 Release Candidate code provides some extra context to the latest leak.
The colors can also be related to more personal characteristics of the hub. Users will reportedly be able to create a Photo Face, with Apple’s preview graphics for the feature matching the color of the device itself.
However, the color options are not yet confirmed. Mark Gurman, Bloomberg previously announced that the home hub would come with Apple’s usual gray aluminum finish, without mentioning the other three options. So while Silver, Space Grey, Starlight and Rose Pink have already been revealed in a separate report, we’ll have to wait for Apple’s official announcement to find out which surface will actually hit store shelves.
In addition to the colors, the home hub is expected to have a roughly 6-inch square display, and Apple is reportedly planning a desktop and wall-mounted version.
The desktop model sounds particularly distinctive. According to Gurman, its display will sit on a polished metal arm attached to a round metal base with perforated speaker holes. The design is said to be similar to Apple’s unusual iMac G4, which was released in 2002.
The home hub is expected to be at the heart of Apple’s broader development of smart home products, although the company has yet to officially confirm the device.
For now, the four announced finishes add another little detail to watch out for when Apple finally unveils it. If the leak is accurate, the home hub won’t be limited to the standard Apple gray after all.
