Strava posts workouts designed by trainers

Fitness tracking platform Strava announced today a new expansion of its strength training features, adding coach-designed manual workouts with live sets and rep tracking. Here are the details.

Strava Expands Strength Training Features

A few months ago, Strava announced improvements to its strength training experience, with dedicated workout logs for tracking sets, reps, and weights, automatic muscle mapping, and more.

Today, the company Revealed New features build on that, including strength workouts designed by coaches that guide users through each exercise with animations, form tips and information on target muscle groups.

Now, users can track their sets and reps as they go, with results automatically saved to their activity when the session ends. The muscle map introduced earlier this year will also be updated to reflect completed workouts.

Here is Strava:

Launching to subscribers in the next few weeks, with sample workouts available to users for free, the new experience walks athletes through workouts developed by experienced strength coaches with guided animations, and lets them keep track of sets and reps as they go. Clicking on each exercise also provides instructions on the correct form, instructions and specific muscles to target. When the workout is over, every exercise, set, and rep is recorded directly with the athlete’s activity, and their muscle map is updated to show where the effort went.

The company said today’s update also introduces new guided workouts, with additional workout packages planned before the end of the year.

And speaking of what’s to come, Strava says it’s working on a feature that will allow users to import strength workouts simply by uploading a screenshot of a training plan or record with sets and reps, “as well as your own workout features.”
