Judgment
The Dreame AirPursue PM20 Purifier has an extremely high CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) and removed secondhand smoke from my neighbor’s home in less than five minutes. It also quickly removes VOCs and other forms of air pollution. The machine also cools the air in the warmer months and heats the air when it is cold outside. However, it’s big and bulky and costs a pretty penny.

Introduction
The Dreame AirPursue PM20 Purifier comes from a well-known vacuum cleaner and fan company, making the Dreame AirPursue PM20 Purifier a great purifier for large spaces and a fan and heater at the same time.
With the features available, is this a better alternative, or is it too big and bulky to make sense? My full review explains everything.
Design and features
- Cleaner, fan and heater
- It comes with a remote control
- Compatible with Dreame app
The Dreame AirPursue PM20 arrived well packaged. An interesting note: there was actually an unboxing guide with text and illustrations. I usually use a knife to rip open the boxes at the top seam, but Dreame was adamantly against this method. Instead, the bottom of the box has buckles (yes, buckles) on both sides, and I had to unclip the buckles and then slide the box open to reveal the air cleaner.

Based on attention to detail at this level, a box, I was curious to see if the air purifier itself would be just as impressive – and it was. The Dreame AirPursue PM20 is very similar to the Dyson cleaner big+silent formaldehyde air cleanersimilar enough that the casual observer could easily confuse the two. However, the price makes a clear difference between the two. Dyson’s two models range in price from $1,099 to $1,199, while the Dreame AirPursue PM20 costs $699.
With a weight of 39.5 kilos, it is a large, heavy air purifier, but also quite attractive. I do not recommend it for smaller or crowded places, as the machine needs enough space to work efficiently. However, if you have the space, there are many attractive features available, including a 10-speed fan. Dyson’s Purifier is not a fan.
The air purifier is available with gold or silver magnetic panels. The high-efficiency composite filter is located behind the panels. Behind it is the coal layer, then the

There are only two buttons on the air purifier: the power button and the information switch. As a general rule, I prefer to use the on-board controls, but I found them tiring to operate, so I usually used the remote to control the air purifier – especially in bed.

The remote control gives you access to the full range of PM20 functions, including choosing between four cleaning levels: Auto, which adjusts airflow speed based on air quality; Pet Mode, which allows for both top and bottom air vents and increases airflow to remove pet odors; Comfort, which reduces airflow to the lowest level, so good for sleeping; and Custom, which allow you to manually adjust the airflow.
The air flow rate, heating and cooling modes, timer (up to 12 hours), direction of air flow and scrolling through the information displays can then be controlled with a button.

When not in use, the remote control is magnetically attached to the front of the fan.

It’s useful if the air purifier connects to the Dream app, giving you the same controls wherever you are and keeping track of your cleaning status.

Performance
- Cleans the air quickly
- Cools and warms
- The sensors detect various pollutants
The Dreame AirPursue PM20 is excellent at removing pollutants from the air. I have a neighbor who smokes, so the most important test for me is how quickly it can remove odors and impurities from my air. Obviously, a lot depends on what you smoke and for how long. However, if I increase the fan speed to between eight and 10, the air purifier cleans the air quite quickly. When you stop smoking or move to another part of your home, it takes less than five minutes for the air to return to normal.
I also rolled the Dreame AirPursue PM20 into the kitchen to see how it performed when testing various kitchen products. I don’t burn food on purpose, but when I’m testing air fryers like the Typhur Sync Air Fryer or the Ninja French Door Premier Air Fryer Toaster Oven, I may need to adjust the suggested cooking times, and the air cleaner gently reminds me to keep an eye on the food at high speed (when in Auto mode).

Sometimes the colors change for other reasons, like when I use cleaning sprays. The air purifier has 7 sensors: PM1, PM2.5, PM10, formaldehyde, TVOC (total volatile organic compounds), temperature and humidity. When I spray cleaner into the air, this action activates the TVOC sensor. But again, it takes less than 5 minutes for the Dream AirPursu PM20 to remove these chemicals and restore the air to the desired state.
The air purifier works quickly thanks to the four-stage filtration process. The gold magnetic housing prevents hair and large debris from entering the air cleaner, making the filter system more efficient. Behind the magnetic housing is the High Efficiency Composite Filter, which provides H13 filtration and tracks dust and other small allergens.
Next is the carbon layer, which absorbs smoke and volatile gases such as TVOC and formaldehyde. Finally, the Formaldehyde-Cata filter removes formaldehyde from the air.
However, the Dream AirPursue PM20 is not just an air purifier. It also cools and heats. A cooling fan will not take the place of an air conditioner or one of the best fans, but it will provide a cool breeze. Since I tested the machine in June and July, I couldn’t really say how efficiently it heats a cold room – but it does produce warm air.
The AI Detect feature is cool. In auto mode, the airflow follows me (by airflow I mean the large upper part of the air purifier that looks like a satellite dish) – so if I walk left, it turns left, and if I walk in the opposite direction, it also follows right. However, if 2 or more people are on different sides of the room, the airflow will oscillate from one side of the room to the other to accommodate everyone.
When the air purifier is on low, I can barely hear it. The noise level at different fan speeds is as follows:
Fan speed at 2: 35.9 dB
Fan speed on 4: 44.4 dB
Fan speed at 6: 53.7 dB
Fan speed at 8: 60.5 dB
Fan speed at 10: 65.4 dB
Maintenance was fairly easy. Based on 12 hours of daily use, the high-efficiency composite filter should last for 2 years, and the activated carbon filter for one year. A warning appears on the air purifier’s display – and also on the app – when the filters need to be replaced. On a weekly basis, I wiped the outside of the air cleaner with a soft cloth and vacuumed the filters.
Should I buy it?
He likes a device with many functions
The sensors detect and provide information on PM1, PM2.5, PM10, formaldehyde, TVOC, temperature and humidity. You can use built-in controls, remote control, app or voice control. And there is a fan and heater.
You have a lot of carpet and you will be moving the air purifier around a lot
The Dreame AirPursue PM20 weighs 39.5 pounds. The air purifier has wheels that make it easy to roll on hard floors. However, on carpet, these wheels are like bricks and don’t move at all, so you have to pick them up.
Final thoughts
There’s so much to love about the Dream AirPursue PM20 Purifier—though its long name isn’t one of them. Although big, it’s a stylish machine that looks remarkably like a Dyson for hundreds of dollars. 400 CADR is the average for smoke, pollen and dust and is significantly higher than most air purifiers and removes pollutants from the air quickly. However, the air purifier won’t look out of place in tight spaces, and while it’s more budget-friendly than the Dyson, it’s not exactly a cheap option. If you want something smaller or fancier, our guide to the best air purifiers can help.
