Samsung’s first Android XR smart glasses finally got a launch window

Samsung’s first Android XR smart glasses are just weeks away. The company has reportedly confirmed that its display-less AI glasses will be released in November, narrowing the wider autumn window previously given by Samsung and Google.

According to the Korea Heralda Samsung official confirmed a November launch, though there’s still no exact date or price. The glasses came out recently FCC filingsWith model numbers SM-O200J and SM-O200P and more variants, this gives another indication that the launch is approaching.

Samsung first presented its smart glasses alongside Google at I/On in May, and then took a closer look at the Galaxy Unpacked in July. He also collaborates with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker on various frame designs.

Unlike display-equipped glasses like the XREAL Aura, Samsung’s first-generation models don’t put anything in front of your eyes. Instead, they use cameras, microphones, speakers, and Gemini to understand what you see and hear. The more demanding artificial intelligence processing is handled by a connected Galaxy phone, so the glasses are more like an easy extension of the smartphone than an independent device.

This puts Samsung in a part of the smart glasses market where Meta currently has a large presence. According to Counterpoint Research Global AI eyewear shipments jumped 263% year over year in the first half of 2026, with non-display models accounting for 96% of shipments. Meta reportedly owned 94% of the segment.

Samsung is said to be aiming for up to 5 grams less weight than Meta’s camera-equipped glasses, which start at 51.5 grams.

Data protection will be another important part of the package. According to Samsung, LEDs inside and outside the frame indicate when recording is active, while the camera turns off when the external light is covered. This could be useful as camera glasses continue to raise questions about people being recorded without our knowledge.

For now, November is as specific as Samsung’s launch window. FCC filings are already out, and with an announced November launch, the company’s first Android XR glasses are that much closer to becoming a real product.
