iPhone 18 Pro one month later: these features impress me

I’ve had the iPhone 18 Pro for about a month now, and during that time three main features have consistently impressed me.

#1: Battery life

When Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro, it compared its battery life to the iPhone 17 Pro Max – a model that has been praised around the world for its impressive performance.

After a month of use, the battery of the iPhone 18 Pro is really top class. I never think about charging during the day, and at the end of almost every day I have about 60% battery.

I can not even imagine how I will end my day if I have a large iPhone 18 Pro Max. Suffice it to say, Apple’s battery upgrades this year are fantastic, and anyone with an older iPhone should be very happy no matter which Pro size you choose.

#2: Upgrading the main camera

Apple makes the iPhone’s camera better every year. But actually it’s not too often that the main camera improves significantly. For example, in the last few years, Apple has focused on upgrading the Telephoto, Ultra Wide and front cameras.

But the iPhone 18 Pro’s main camera with variable aperture is the star this year, and I love it.

I don’t have professional photography training, so adding professional controls isn’t interesting to me. And I never change the aperture with the camera manually. But just using the ‘auto’ setting, I keep taking pictures that look pretty good to me. Most of the time they’re ƒ/1.48, with some ƒ/1.8 thrown in too. And while I don’t have the expertise to explain why they look good to me, I’ll just say that I’m very happy with the camera.

#3: Cooling the vapor chamber

I use my iPhone outside a lot, often on sunny days, and the iPhone 18 Pro’s vapor chamber is a welcome upgrade in making the iPhone usable.

Previous iPhone models often struggle in the elements, especially on warm, bright days. This proved especially frustrating when I was trying to capture special moments with the camera app and my warm iPhone was too slow to snap a photo.

With the iPhone 18 Pro, while it was still a bit warm at times, I never noticed a lag in performance. Instead, the vapor chamber keeps everything cool enough to deliver the iPhone experience I expect.
