The rollout of WhatsApp’s Liquid Glass across its interface continues, with the app bringing a new look to its video player. Here are the details.
WhatsApp’s slow Liquid Glass rollout continues
After the initial test of the Liquid Glass design in October 2025, WhatsApp continued to officially launch the new look only in May 2026, after a limited number of months.
However, the new design has not yet reached everyone, as many 9to5Mac readers continue to report seeing the old interface on their devices.
That said, Meta has continued to roll out new designs across WhatsApp in the months since. Liquid Glass made its way to the iPad app in June, followed by the Mac app in July, while WhatsApp has continued to improve the more personalized parts of the iPhone interface.
This week, as noted by WBetaInfoWhatsApp started rolling out its new Liquid Glass design for the video player, after initially revealing that an update was in development. Back in August.
This is it WBetaInfo:

With the latest update, WhatsApp is using the progress bar with a flat, glass-like appearance that is present in other parts of the app. The progress bar appears as a floating element at the top of the screen with a transparent background and rounded corners. In light mode, the background is white with a glass-like appearance. In dark mode, the background becomes dark. Note that WhatsApp is refreshing the control bar at the bottom of the screen. This makes the interaction deeper and consistent with the Liquid Glass design language introduced since iOS 26.
The site adds that, for users who have access to the new model, the video player is one of the few remaining WhatsApp that has not yet adopted the Liquid Glass design.
As is often the case with WhatsApp feature launches, and especially with the Liquid Glass rollout, the updated video player may not be available to all users yet.
