Android fans will notice that Google loves wavy progress bars these days. They’re part of the company’s broader Material 3 Expressive design, and you’ll find them in Google apps and interfaces, including Android Auto. But as we’ve seen curved design make its way into more places, we’ve got less and less insight into what users will think about it. Until now, that is.

Last month, Android Auto’s wavy progress bar mysteriously reverted to a straight line for some users, at least when playing music through Spotify in full-screen mode. It’s not the first time this feature has been lost, but it gave us a good reason to ask our readers if they prefer a wavy design or a classic straight line. Apparently, a little curveball is generating some interest, with over 1,300 reader votes and surprisingly strong opinions in the comments.
