Apple is working on a new ecosystem of smart home devices through a partnership with LG, Bloomberg reported.
The new devices — which include smart locks, thermostats, and doorbells — are designed to integrate with the company’s smart home hub, another product coming to will report Launched on October 13. The center is expected to include a 6-inch square display that can be placed on a countertop or mounted on a wall.
Both companies are also working on security cameras, including indoor and outdoor models, as well as flashlights. LG devices are expected to be announced, if not officially revealed, next week, too. TechCrunch contacted Apple for more information.
Interestingly, the device will reportedly be branded LG despite being developed by both companies.
The new product can rightly be read as a drop in Amazon’s smart home offering, which currently includes several similar products, including the Ring home security camera.
Apple has sought to push into new territory with recent hardware releases. One of those new territories is Smart home extension.
