Starting with the US Grand Prix weekend on Friday, October 23, Apple TV will offer Formula 1 coverage in Dolby Atmos on supported devices. Here are the details.
‘Bringing exceptional visuals and audio together to capture the full intensity of the sport’
Apple and Dolby Laboratories announced a new partnership to bring Dolby Atmos to live Formula 1 coverage on Apple TV, starting with the US Grand Prix weekend, which begins on October 23 in Austin, Texas.
Apple says Dolby Atmos will join “Dolby Vision to deliver a more immersive viewing experience,” which puts “fans at the heart of the action, surrounding them with the energy, drama, and emotion of Formula 1.”
From team radio communications and race commentary to the roar of engines, track battles, and pit lane intensity, Dolby Atmos brings the incredible sound that defines sports to life.
Here’s Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Apple International Content, in the announcement:
“We are looking for new ways to make Formula 1 on Apple TV better for fans. (…) The sound of Formula 1 is an important part of what makes the sport exciting, and with Dolby Atmos joining Dolby Vision, fans can experience the energy and intensity of every Grand Prix in a new way. It is another example of how we continue to keep fans watching.
It’s worth noting that Apple TV’s streaming rights for Formula 1 still include only the United States, but no additional subscription to the Apple TV subscription is required.
Apple recently released the Bahrain Grand Prix for free in the US, and also partnered with Netflix to bring Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 8 to Apple TV in the US. As part of the same partnership, the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix is being streamed live on both Apple TV and Netflix in the US.
Apple has secured US broadcast rights to Formula 1 in 2025 as part of a five-year deal that starts in the 2026 season, and has previously indicated it wants to expand its F1 coverage into additional markets.
Apple’s extensive relationship with Formula 1 also includes “F1: Film,” which won an Academy Award for Best Sound earlier this year and remains Apple’s biggest theatrical success to date.
Apple TV is Available for $14.99 per month or as part of Apple One package. It has hit TV and movies like Ted Lasso, separation, Studio, Morning show, ShrinkageAnd Shiloh.
