The brand known for its 360-degree cameras is about to offer a new experience to Insta360 users. No, the company does not produce new equipment. A new feature for those who have an X6, X5 or X4 Air instead. This new feature is designed to allow you to explore your memories more deeply.
Today, Insta360 announced the launch of Space Capture, which will appear as a new tab in the Insta360 app. Here you can turn recorded videos into 3D views to explore. Better yet, no special filming equipment or complex workflows are required.

The way it works is that you capture the space you want to capture in a video of no more than two minutes. If the video is longer than two minutes, you can shorten the recording before editing. From the Insta360 app, you can select a video in the Spatial Capture tab. After you tap Create, your footage is sent to the cloud, where 3D Gaussian Splatting technology converts your video into 3D. The company warns that it will take approximately one to two hours to complete processing.
While processing is in progress, you can close the application and focus on other issues. Once the editing is complete, you will receive a notification that the scene is ready. You can then explore the scene to your heart’s content using touch controls, a virtual joystick, or the device’s gyroscope. What’s more, you have the freedom to add effects and create custom camera tracks. These views can be exported as video or shared as interactive links.
Spatial Capture is scheduled for release on September 28. As mentioned earlier, support will be available for X6, X5 and X4 Air. However, this feature will initially only be available in the US. Insta360 adds that users can create four 3DGS views for free every month.
