Apple poaches longtime Meta executive to lead global lawsuit

Bloomberg Apple has reportedly hired Scott Tucker, who spent nearly six years as Meta’s vice president and deputy general counsel for global litigation. Here are the details.

Earlier this year, Meta’s former chief legal officer Jennifer Newstead joined Apple as its new general counsel, replacing longtime executive Kate Adams.

Newstead’s responsibilities eventually expanded to include government affairs following the retirement of Lisa Jackson, who had previously overseen the department.

The change brings Apple’s legal and government teams under a single executive, with former CEO Tim Cook, now Apple’s executive chairman, also directly involved in managing the company’s government relations.

As part of the reorganization, Apple also hired former American Airlines executive Nate Gatten as its new vice president of government.

now, Bloomberg Newstead is reportedly bringing in a former colleague from Meta, Scott Tucker, who joined Mark Zuckerberg’s company in 2021 and previously held a senior legal position at Morgan Stanley.

The company has hired Scott Tucker, Meta’s deputy general counsel and head of litigation, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

He will also handle legal matters related to the company’s financial offering.

The report added that as a result of Tucker joining the company, Heather Grenier, Apple’s vice president of commercial litigation and competition, will now report to him instead of directly to Newstead. Bloomberg However, note that Grenier will retain her position on Newstead’s legal leadership team.
