Spotify said Tuesday that it’s easier to use Spotify by talking to Siri on iPhones updated to iOS 27. Users won’t need to specify “in Spotify” when they’re asking Siri to play music or other content using the streaming service’s app.
Instead, users can say whatever they want to hear, and Spotify will play the content, whether it’s a specific song, album, podcast, audiobook, or a broader query like “play some workout music” or one of Spotify’s feature requests like “play my DJ.”
Siri voice control can also be used to do things like request personalized recommendations, resume podcasts, search your library, or even create a Prompted Playlist with AI.
Spotify says that removing special voice commands will make hands-free listening feel more natural, as users can focus on what they want to hear, not how to phrase the request correctly for the music app to respond.
This feature works because Siri can now learn your music app settings. If you use Spotify regularly, it will automatically route your audio requests to that app.
The new feature is available worldwide for users with an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, outside the EU, if Apple Intelligence is enabled in the settings.
